March 10: Happy Birthday, hubby!!

70/366

HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY TO MY INCREDIBLE HUSBAND!!!

Today marks Drew's 28th birthday and the 3rd birthday that I've had the pleasure of celebrating with him! He is such an amazing man and I'm so lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life celebrating birthdays with him. He is so smart, talented, driven, funny, compassionate and handsome..I'm such a lucky girl! I love you, honeybuns!

March 9: Indulging

69/366

As an early birthday treat, Drew and I went to the Angus Barn for dinner. We got a gift card months ago and haven't found a time when we could use it, so we thought this would be a great occasion! We got an appetizer, salads, steaks, potatoes, mushrooms, drinks, a free birthday cake (see above) AND their famous chocolate chess pie (ranked one of the top 10 best chocolate desserts in the country--no contest here!) Talk about indulging...

March 8: Paw-lease

68/366

As usual, Raleigh likes to be right in the middle of everything...she loves sitting on my lap or Drew's lap right up in our faces! I was trying to do some stuff on the computer and every time I would stop patting her to type, she would put her paw on my hand as if to tell me 'umm you weren't done rubbing me.' Silly puppy!

March 7: Chopped Off

67/366

With the weather getting hotter and me feeling slightly antsy, I decided I wanted to chop my hair off! Mind you...I had a lot of hair to chop, so even though I cut off 6 inches, I still have a ton of hair left!

March 6: Let them eat cake

66/366

There's not much to be said about this--birthday cake is always one of the best things to enjoy...especially when it's chocolate and has THIS much frosting! YUM!

March 5: Lazy Love

65/366

I wasn't sure what Drew was doing when he grabbed my phone, but apparently it was to take this picture of me and Raleigh all cuddled up on the couch. Raleigh might be one of the laziest dogs on the planet, but it is sweet when she gets all lovey and wants to flop on your shoulder for an evening nap.

March 4: Blue Steel

64/366

Tonight the family got together at Becky & Charlie's house to celebrate Ken and Drew's birthdays. We had yummy BBQ, fried chicken, all the fixins and cake! Drew and Mackenzie decided to ham it up for the cameras a little bit and show me their best model poses--I think Mackenzie has a little work to do :)

March 3: VICTORY!!

63/366

As a proud Tar Heel, I just had to brag a little bit after this game :)

I get alerts on my phone when games start and end and even though we were out at a restaurant with some friends watching the game, it made me so excited to see this pop up on my screen! I'll take a blow out over a last-minute lucky 3-pointer any day of the week! GO HEELS!!

March 2: Homemade Doughnuts

62/366

In honor of some of our dear friends coming to visit this weekend, I thought I'd get a head start on making some yummy treats for breakfast. I found this recipe on Pinterest for doughnut muffins and thought I'd give them a whirl--they were pretty good! I think they might have been better hot and fresh out of the oven, but they were easy and a good addition to Sunday morning breakfast!

March 1: What's Up, Doc?

61/366

Why is it that ALL doctors' offices look the exact same? I had to go to the doctor today and as I was sitting in the waiting room, all I could think about was how many times I had seen that hideous carpet, uncomfortable chairs and gut-wrenching smell of ointment and medical things. It does help that the doctors here were very nice!

February 29: Leap Day

60/366

Leap Day is a special day that comes once every 4 years...

Ok let's be honest, there wasn't really anything special about this day. But it was one extra day to wake up, to be with the ones we love, and to thank God for the blessings in our lives. I was out driving around and thought this was a great picture of the Raleigh skyline and reminded myself to be thankful one more day for everything good in my life.

February 28: Burn, Baby, Burn

59/366

Just thought this was a neat looking picture of a candle that we love to burn in our living room. It's called 'Pink Sand' and it smells sweet and beachy all at the same time. It's a great way to add some yummy flavor to our little home.

February 27: Hakuna Matata

58/366

Flipping through channels on this dull Sunday evening, we came across 'The Lion King' on ABC Family and we had to stop. It's such a great movie that reminds us of our childhoods...and I still remember every word to every song in this movie! However, the scene (shown above) where Scar kills Mufasa is still one of the saddest scenes in any movie ever. Despite this, though, this is a classic Disney movie that reminds us to say, 'Hakuna Matata!'

February 26: SMILE!

57/366

Because we were all in town and found ourselves with nothing to do, we went over to Catey & Ken's house for some homemade BBQ. Poor Caroline is still in a boot/cast thing from her foot surgery and Mackenzie thought it would be fun to try it on. Needless to say it was quite a process to get this on her and once she did she realized she couldn't walk. Amidst everything, Mackenzie followed the directions on her shirt and made sure to SMILE!

February 25: Temperature's Rising

56/366

I know I've posted a lot of pictures thus far about warm weather and feeling like spring...but here's one more! It's been such a mild winter this year, but driving around in 75-degree weather during mid-February is unheard of! I love turning up some good music and rolling the windows down in my car on days like this....let's hope it lasts!

February 24: Wall of Memories

55/366

This was mine, Drew's and Leigh's Christmas present for my parents. We got a ton of cool black picture frames and tons of pictures from our lives to display in their new house. The real challenge was to get them up on the wall, but it turned out perfect! It's so great to see this wall of memories every time we walk in the house now!

February 23: Dinner for One

54/366

As is sometimes the case during Drew's busy season...I ended up making and eating dinner for myself tonight. For those of you who have seen the movie 'The Holiday' you know that Kate Winslet's character talks about making some 'Christmas fettuccine' at one point...I'm not sure if the movie made me want fettuccine or if thinking about making fettuccine made me want to watch 'The Holiday'. Either way--it was a great night even though it would have been better if my sweet husband had been there to join me!

February 22: Smooth(ie) Criminal

53/366

In an attempt to be a little healthier and get a full day's worth of nutrients in one glass, I made this smoothie with mixed frozen berries and cranberry-pomegranate juice. I wasn't totally thrilled with the taste--a bit too tangy for my liking--but it was very refreshing and made for a lovely picture!

February 21: Spaghetti-Ohhhhs

52/366

I don't care what you say...it is TOTALLY appropriate for grown-ups to eat Spaghetti-Os for lunch! I'm not sure what possessed me to grab the can from the back of our pantry, but I decided to go for it. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! I don't know that I was necessarily eat them every day (for diet's sake), but it was a surprisingly lovely treat for this particular lunch.
